Berglet / about
Simple until you become curious.
That sentence is the whole idea behind Berglet. Everything else follows from it.
Why Berglet
Most gadgets are either simple or open. The simple ones are sealed: you use them the way you're told. The open ones greet you with a soldering iron and a forum thread.
Berglet is both, in layers. On top, it's a little game console you can pick up and play. One layer down, anyone can change the games or make new ones, from a browser. Below that, it's a friendly way to learn to program. And at the bottom, it's a small computer that will let you write an emulator for it, if that's the kind of person you are.
You never need the layer beneath the one you're using. You're always allowed to go there. Someone can own a Berglet for years and only ever play. Someone else can rewrite everything on it. Both are using it exactly right.
The name
A berg with a small -let on the end: a little iceberg. The part you see is small and friendly. Most of it is under the waterline, there whenever you want to look.
